SFV is a document file that store checksum data. SFV files contain data saved in plain text format witout using any encryption. SFV files are commonly used during data recovery or file size verification processes.

Checksums are also used for veryfing files downloaded from the internet or while creating CD or DVD copies. SFV can only be read and properly interpreted by dedicated software tools.
