File with a .STG extension contains a backup copy of a mobile device data, such as a calendar, contacts or notes. They are usually stored as backup.STG.

STG files were created with the ActiveSync software (up to 4.2 version). Later on, Microsoft deleted the functionality of data syncing – thus disabling the functionality of the backup copy of mobile applications.
