CC file format is used by source code text files written in C++ programming language. Simple applications may require only one CC file to store the code, while larger projects may utilize more such file to store source code.

Source code needs to be compiled before it can be executed by the computer. File extension type isn’t that important, but it make it easier for IDE programs to identify the language in which given source code is written and apply appropriate syntax highlighting.
