CPT file extension is used for bitmap image files, typically digital photos. CPT files are associated with PHOTO-PAINT application developed by Corel. CPT is not a backward compatible format and thus users are advised to keep PHOTO-PAINT up to date when creating CPT files.

Older versions of CPT files may not be correctly supported by newer PHOTO-PAINT versions. Such files must be converted using third-party tools or opened with corresponding version of PHOTO-PAINT.
