DIF is a document file that contains information about exported spreadsheet in ASCII text format. DIF file can be edited using a spreadsheet software or standard text editor.

DIF format was developed as multiplatform spreadsheet document exchange standard. Single DIF file can store only one spreadsheet document, which is the format’s biggest drawback. More complex worksheets must therefore be separated into multiple DIF files.
