Files with the .LVL extension contain video game level data, such as the level map, objects, and other data used during the loading of the game.
These files are used by many different types of games, such as Rockstar Games’ Max Payne, Parallax Descent 2, WOM Games Snood, Lasertank, and LucasArts’ Star Wars Battlefront, and are usually saved in groups. LVL files are loaded automatically during the game, which is why they shouldn’t be opened and edited manually. Some games, however, feature level editors and builders, which let the users edit LVL files and saved them in the right format, one that can be opened by the game – an example could be the LVL extractor, used for editing Star Wars Battlefront levels.
