File with a .PCD extension contains images obtained via scanning and photo editing equipment Kodak, stored in a variety of resolutions in a reserved format. PCD files enable recording photographs on CDs in a 24-bit colour format.
Each file stores five or six copies of a photo in a variety of resolutions, starting from the lowest used as a miniature menu image in 192 x 126 pixel resolution. The highest, fifth standard resolution is 3072 x 2048 pixel resolution. In case of Kodak’s Pro Photo CD standard, the sixth resolution is 6144 x 4096 pixels.
