The .SHS extension refers to Scrap files from Microsoft’s Office suite programs. As the name suggests, the file type is used to store scraps and bits of data from other Microsoft applications. This usually happens when some part of the text data is drag n dropped onto the desktop from one of the Microsoft’s popular applications like Word or PowerPoint.

These files contain the scrapped highlighted texts in OLE object file types. These are not executable and hence cannot be opened directly. Beginning from Vista, these files have become now obsolete and there is no support for opening or modifying the SHS files. Thus these files are mostly of no use in the current scenarios.
