File with an .XAR extension contains a graphic in a vector format, formerly known as the Flare file. It may be used to create 2D graphics in the Internet, illustrations or to edit existing images and photos. It is used as a native format by the Xara Xtreme software.

The Xara X, CorelXARA, Xara Photo & Graphic Designer and Xara Designer Pro program series were acquired by MAGIX in the year 2007, it is also used in designing web sites and image settings for printing.
