File with an .ASS extension contains subtitles to a video file, along with formatting – text style, spaces, orientation, sequencing and display time.

ASS files are created in the inter-platform Aegjsub software used to save and edit subtitles under videos. They are stored according to the Advanced Substation Alpha syntax.
