BAND is an extension specific to files used by GarageBand audio recording and editing software. BAND is a file in which music projects performed in the program are saved. Such a project may contain both audio files, data in MIDI format or samples available in the rich program library.

GarageBand is a tool available only for Apple systems for creating simple projects as well as very complex, containing many soundtracks.
