BDV is a data storage file associated with antivirus software BitDefender. BDV files store samples of data to be compared with external data, for example files downloaded from the internet or copied from an USB drive, as a means of virus detection.

Information stored in BDV files allow the antivirus program to properly assess type and level of danger. Malicious code stored in compromised files is quarantined and cannot damaged the system. Antivirus software should be updated regularly for full protection.
