BLF is a temporary file format used by Windows system registry. BLF files store changes made to the register by users manually editing registry entries before they are saved in the target Ntuser.dat file.
BLF files are saved in Windows user folder. They constitute a form of a backup copy which can be used to restore previous registry settings. BLF files are generated dynamically and are beyond user control. BLF files are present both in Microsoft desktop systems and those dedicated for servers.
