The .DASH file extension refers to the video file that is generated when a high quality video playback is run on web like on Youtube or Netflix. The extension refers to files of the type, MPEG – DASH video files which are also known as dashlane files.

The file structure is very similar to that of an MP4 file in the terms that dashlane video file allows storing video data at multiple bit rate levels so that it can be adjusted according to the end user’s bandhwidth. This is the essence of a Dynamic Adaptive Stream over Http file. The DASH files are distributed on the web over the Dash protocol.
