MPEG is a file format used to store digital video material. Movies in such a file are encoded with MPEG-1 standard. Most often, such files are used to stream movies over the network. Such files may also be stored locally on a storage medium. The audio in the MPEG file is encoded with MPEG-1 Layer II (MP2).
The MPEG-1 codec supports image resolution up to 4095 × 4095 at a binary stream of 100Mbit / s, but MPEG files usually have a resolution of 352x240 at a stream of up to 1.5 Mbit / s.
