Files with the .PM extension contain function modules for applications written in Perl. It can be in a traditional form, containing subprograms and variables for functions referring to the module for import and use. It also supports object-oriented forms in which a function is a class definition and is referred to using class methods.

Some module PM files offer both classic and object-oriented approaches at the same time.
