RPM file extension is used by a Linux-based operating system. RPM file is a installer package archive used by various Linux distributions.
RPM file can be manipulated using rpm console commands, for example, rpm -ivh package.rpm (a command that installs the package and displays installation progress and package name). Command ‘rpm’ is used as entrypoint for all operations on packages, including removing a package. RPM files can also be managed using simple programs such as Midnight Commander, or more complex GUI managers.
