File with a .STA extension contains results an incremental, summary data analysis, conducted within the ABAQUS software. The data operated by the program are finite elements, it is a FEA analysis (Finite Elements Analysis).

The ABAQUS software can be encountered in versions dedicated for different purpose – Standard, for a traditional discrete analysis of finite elements, Explicit – transitory-dynamic and quasi-static, CAE – modelling and visualisation of environments. An example of use can be analysis of rupture mechanics, heat transfer, static and dynamic tension calculation, mass diffusion.
