VBM is document file that contains backup copy file metadata used by Veeam Backup & Replication software tool. VBM is a support file for VBK and VRB backup files. VBM files facilitate backup copy restore processes.
Veeam uses VBM files for streamlining restore process. Virtual machine reads necessary metadata from VBM file and restores VBK image data. Newer version of Veeam offers limited support for locally cached data as it focuses more on cloud service technology.
