Files with the VXD extension are associated with older operating systems from the Windows family (3.x, 95 and 98). VXD files are files used by the operating system and applications running in it to store drivers for physical devices located in the hardware resources of the computer. Some of these files were installed with the operating system as basic drivers. Their absence could cause errors in the operation of the system.

VXD files could also be uploaded to the system at a later time depending on the needs.
