BIB is a text file that store data written using BibTeX syntax. BIB documents are used for stoing lists of references cited in given publication. BIB databases are commonly used by various LaTeX tools.

BIB data strucutre is very simple – it stores bibliographical data in well-defined format. BIB files can easily be edited using any text editor provided that user understands BibTeX syntax. BibTeX was developed in 1985, and the last stable version was released in March of 2010.
