Files with the BLEND2 extension are characteristic of an application called Blender. This format is used for backing up projects created with Blender. Such a file is generated automatically. The options for creating BLEND files and their number can be configured by the program user. The actual project file has the BLEND extension, and the copies have the BLEND1, BLEND2, BLEND3 extensions, etc. Restoring the actual file from the backup consists in changing the extension, eg from BLEND2 to BLEND.
