File with a .TPL extension contains a template of a document – page layout, data on fonts, formatting, used in different types of applications. It can be stored in different formats, therefore sometimes they cannot be opened properly.

Templates of documents are used to give documents a coherent layout – structure and style. They can be related to text documents or images, for instance templates for official correspondence.
