Files with the ADX extension are used by a relational database management system called Lotus Approach. It is a component of the Lotus SmartSuite office suite that uses ADX files as a database index. This solution is now available in many systems of this type and allows for faster operations on database records, mainly related to searches. Most indexes are based on a pair of keys and pointers to each database record.
