AEF is a file extension associated with ELECTRICAL Designer (elecworks) software tool. AEF files store data related to electrical circuits or hydraulic and pneumatic designs created with ELECTRICAL Designer.

AEF files offer plenty of configuration options which can be used during project creation process. In 2012 Trace Software sold it rights to elecworks which was then renamed SolidWorks Electrical. The software is available in the form of a paid license.
