CRYPT7 is a database file associated with mobile application WhatsApp, a Web-based communicator. CRYPT7 file are used a backup copies of chat history. CRYPT7 files can only be accessed by providing a personal key stored on the device.

CRYPT7 format was introduced along with WhatsApp version released in 2015 and replaced the older CRYPT6 format. The successor to CRYPT7 format is CRYPT8.
