DWL2 is a document format used by AutoCAD, a CAD software developed by Autodesk. DWL2 files are used for locking access to opened DWG files. DWL2 cannot be used to access drawings being edited.

DWL2 are automatically generated when a DWG project is opened and deleted upon given project file closing. DWL2 files are used as a means of preventing simultaneous access to the same DWG files by more then one user or machine in order to avoid data loss or corruption.
