File with .ENW extension contains information regarding bibliographical citations such as author, company, title, publication and keyword data. This file is created by EndNote software as an output file storing results of database import. EndNote stores citations in library files in .enl format and associated files.

ENW files are rarely used and are now replaced by more popular plain text or XML/HTM file formats. EndNote exports ENL files in above-mentioned and RTF formats, however it still supports ENW format. ENL files are used to share libraries of citations, similar to ENLX files, which are also archived library files.
