EPW file format is used by engineers, architects, and scientists for modeling and simulating energy or other resource usage. EPW files store weather data that is utilized during the simulation process. Such simulations are conducted using EnergyPlus software.

EnergyPlus was developed by U.S. Department of Energy. Weather data is available in EPW files for more than 2100 locations around the world. EPW files and EnergyPlus software can be downloaded from https://energyplus.net website.
