IDB file format is used by Microsoft Visual Studio for C++ projects. IDB file purpose is to store code state data. It defines the relationship between source files and classes.

IDB files are used by compiler and allow faster code processing. User can change the default IDB filename by using the /Fd function available in dialog window for project properties. Minimal compilation, which uses this format, can be activated with the /Gm function.
