Files with the .IES extension contain data on light measurements and its quantity stored in a standardized photometric form devised by IES - the Illuminating Engineering Society.

IES files are used to simulate lighting systems in buildings before their implementation, as well as to study the lighting of roads and outdoor areas. IES files are often published by lighting system manufacturers.
