IGE files are associated with ERDAS IMAGINE, a GIS software. IGE files store large raster images (typically larger than 4GB) based on geospatial data.

IGE image files are accompanied by IMG files. IGE files are a solution to storing large images that bypasses the limitation of addressing such images of 32-bit filesystems. IGE are sometimes referred to as non-HFA file format.
