IGES is an extension given to files used by CAD graphics design programs. IGES are files that are a data exchange format between applications. This can be information about 2D graphics and 3D models (shapes, dimensions, properties).

From a technical point of view, IGES are plain text files. They contain graphic definitions, which, when properly interpreted by the program, allow for the visualization of technical drawings.
