The MAX format created in 3ds Max software allows you to export to many other 3D formats, namely .FBX, .AI, .DWG, .DXF, .IGS, .SAT, and .STL.

Previous versions of 3D Studio MAX also allowed you to save your work in the form of files with the MAX extension, while the latest software allows you to export to an older 3DS format.
