File with a .PS extension contains a description of an image page, which may consist of a raster or vector graphic or text, written in the PostScript language. Currently, this format is not popular although still supported by most imaging devices and applications.

The PS format can be indirectly printed with devices supporting it – it is not necessary to open it and print via any additional application. Currently, PDF became a more universal format, into which, in a simple way, the PS files can be converted to, using tools such as available online converters or computer applications like Acrobat Distiller of the Adobe Acrobat or GhostScript.
