File with a .PTS extension contains information on a music project – one or many tracks in audio or MIDI format, effects imposed on the tracks, mixer settings and file references. Such files do not contain audio data directly, they store its directory.

PTS files are used by the Pro Tools application up to 6.9 version – for later versions, PTF is the default storing format. Pro Tools is the so-called digital audio software for workstations – DAW.
