Files with the .SDOC extension contain Word documents in a secured format – they are “sealed” and can only be opened by authorized users. The security measures in the document are implemented thanks to the Oracle Information Rights Management Desktop software, also known as Oracle IRM Desktop.

IRM software is usually utilized by professionals to protect documents and e-mail attachments and it can be integrated with an office suite so that the save and “seal” options are available directly from the program menu.

SDOC (Sealed Document Word) file is a ‘sealed’ Word (DOC) file created with IRM document protection software developed by Oracle. SDOC file stores secured MS Word text documents.

DOC file is locked with Oracle IRM Desktop tools that is used to create a SDOC file. Created file can only be accessed by user with necessary access rights.
