SWIDTAG files contain XML-structured data and are used by various applications and programs. SWIDTAG files are used for storing identification information for data management purposes by such programs and applications as Office or various Adobe software products.
SWIDTAG files are deleted when given application or program that generated such files is uninstalled from the system. Software programs and applications use SWIDTAG to identify version of software during update installation process. Some software developers use SWID tags to digitally sign their products.
