VFD is an extension of files used to store the contents of older data carriers - floppy disks. VFD is a disk image that can be mounted on your system as a virtual disk and explore its contents like any other medium. This is especially useful when floppy disks are no longer used and computers do not come with floppy drives as standard.

VFD files are most often associated with the Microsoft Virtual PC virtualization program. They are similar to ISO files for CDs.
