XIP is a file format associated with the first generation of Microsoft Xbox gaming consoles, which debuted at the end of 2001. XIP files stored visual themes for Xbox desktop.

Next generations of Xbox replaced custom XIP desktops with a paid service available via Microsoft Store. Xbox 360 no longer supported XIP files, as did subsequent Xbox consoles. XIP files cannot be converted to other formats and tools that were able to open said files are no longer distributed.
