AVCHD is a multimedia file that uses Advanced Video Codec High Definition technology developed jointly by Sony and Panasonic. AVCHD format is primarily used in digital cameras. AVCHD files can be saved on optical media storage (CD, DVD, BD), disks and memory cards. AVCHD format supports HD images in resolutions up to 1920 × 1080 with MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 ocompression and Dolby Digital (AC-3) sound.
Many various versions of AVCHD format exist. MTS is version dedicated to recording devices such as cameras. MTS file can be imported into a computer and saved as M2TS file. MTS files may have compatibility issues with some Blu-ray disc players.
