Files with the .CFG extension contain a record of configurations and settings. They are so-called general files, used by various programs for storing information in various ways. They do not have a single defined method of saving data – each app can use its own configuration files, as well as save them and read them in its own way. If the data is saved using a text format, it can be viewed using a simple text editor.

Usually, such files contain a set of variables relevant to a program, written using a simple notation, namely: variable_name = value.
