CRW is a file extension specific to Canon digital cameras. CRW files are used to save the image generated directly by the photosensitive CCD matrix. This is called raw image obtained without compression or other processing.

CRW are files supported by many graphics programs. They are based on the RAW format. In addition to image data, they most often contain image metadata.
