DMX is the extension given to files used by the Source Filmmaker tool. It is a video creation program for games using the Valve Source engine. The DMX file is used to store the movie project made in the program. A DMX project can also be used to store static images of the game.

Most often, DMX files store cutscenes in the game, but can also be user-created recordings such as gameplay.
