The extension .DV4 refers to files of the type, Bosch Security Systems CCTV video file. This file stores the video data in a proprietary format. This file format is used for archiving and reviewing surveillance footage.

As the file type is proprietary only the DV4 software provided with the camera hardware can be used to playback these videos. Such compatible software would be provided by the vendor at the time of the purchase of any of the Bosch Security systems. Newer version of the archive software allows for exporting the footage video to other popular formats like mp4 or avi video formats.
