DVR-MS is a multimedia document file used on older versions of Windows operating systems. DVR-MS format first appeared along with Windows XP Media Center Edition, which introduced DVR functions for recording and playing television content.
DVR-MS were used for storing TV show recordings encoded using MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 Layer II for video and audio, respectively. DVR-MS files allowed users to simultaneously record and playback content and offered a live TV pause feature. DVR-MS were also supported by Windows Vista.
