E00 is an extension specific to files used by a geographic information system (GIS) called ArcGIS. The E00 file is used to store data exported using the system. Depending on the needs, such a file can be saved as plain text or in binary. Files of this type are an exchange format between GIS systems manufactured by ESRI.

The applications issued by ESRI include, among others. ArcInfo, Desktop GIS, Server GIS or ArcMap.
