EDL is a file format that stores application logs for video editing software such as Adobe Premiere or Apple Final Cut. Many variations of EDL standard exist so some compatibility issues can arise when using different versions of the software.

EDL file stores history of operations performed on given movie file along with its location on the disk. EDL can therefore be used for recovering project data to its base form.
