File with an .ICM extension contains a colour profile for different types of programs or devices, stored in an inter-platform format. ICM files are identical to files with an ICC extension, which is used more often. They enable to save and load colour settings for printers, scanners or software, thanks to which, the same colour system can be used on different platforms and uniform graphic processing and receiving is possible.

ICM files are utilised by different colour managing systems. In Windows system, ICM files for current display device can be viewed with display control panel – by choosing the advanced properties option and colour management. Other programs which can use ICM files are Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign or Kodak Professional Colour System.
