Files with the .LRV extension contain video in low resolution – namely 240p, 29,97 frames per second, saved using the MPEG4 format. They are special purpose files, saved by the recording device alongside high-definition video. If the viewing program fails to recognize the file due to the extension, it should be changed to .MP4.

The footage contained in LRV files is useful during preliminary editing of video recorded using GO Pro cameras, versions HERO 2 and newer, as well as when previewing, online streaming or watching on a mobile device.
